They seat 10 to 30 people, and hire starts at £600 for 4 hours or £1,200 for a full day, for photo and film shoots, workshops, team offsites and meetings. Three Overground lines serve them, with direct trains to Liverpool Street, Highbury & Islington and Stratford. There is no booking fee, and our team sorts the shortlist, the viewing, the catering and the day itself.

Hackney's venues come from its industrial past. In Clapton, a toy factory, a Victorian tram yard, a laundry and an Art Deco building that once made aircraft are now studios with big windows, high ceilings and bare brick or concrete. Producers book them for the light, and teams for the room to think: you have the whole place to yourselves, not a back room in a bar.

• Clapton (E5), five venues. The borough's old factory district. Lumen Loft and Aero Loft sit in the same Art Deco former aircraft works on Theydon Road; The Atlas Factory was a toy factory near Springfield Park; Stable Light Studio fills a Victorian tram yard; Old Laundry Clapton is the largest, with 30 seats. Clapton and Hackney Downs stations are on the Weaver line to Liverpool Street.
• Hackney Wick (E9), one venue. The Loft Studio is a design-led loft by the Olympic Park, with three private rooms and outdoor space. Hackney Wick station is on the Mildmay line, one stop from Stratford.
• Haggerston and Hoxton (E2, N1), three venues. The borough's southern edge, a walk from Shoreditch: The Greenhouse Collective on Kingsland Road, The Light Foundry in Haggerston and The Lightbox Loft on Whitmore Road. Haggerston and Hoxton stations are on the Windrush line.

Photo and film shoots in Hackney

Most of these spaces were set up with productions in mind. Stable Light Studio is lit from above by a skylight running its whole length, which gives soft, even light, and it has a prep area with rails and mirrors. Lumen Loft faces east, with 13-foot ceilings, blackout blinds, a backdrop stand, a hair and make-up station and polyboards. The Light Foundry gets its light from eight floor-to-ceiling windows, and The Lightbox Loft can supply cameras, lighting kits and tripods. Workshops, meetings and team offsites in Hackney

All nine are equipped for presentations and have room for breakout groups. Old Laundry Clapton seats 30, with a projector, screen, flipchart and speakers. The Loft Studio gives a team of 28 three private rooms for breakout groups and an outdoor space for the pause. The Greenhouse Collective seats 24 around oak tables among more than 30 plants, with a large projection screen and fast wifi.
