Workshop spaces for hire in London
Woolly Mammoth has 65 workshop venues in London, from daylight lofts in Shoreditch and studios on the Regent's Canal to a Victorian schoolhouse in Peckham and a restored cooperage in Clerkenwell. Groups of 10 to 160 people can book them from £480 for a half day of 4 hours, for team workshops, training days, seminars and design sprints, with no booking fee. All of them come with presentation equipment and a separate breakout space. Tell us your group size, layout and date: we send a shortlist, arrange a viewing, organise lunch and coffee, and someone from our team meets you at check-in.
A workshop needs a different room from a meeting. People get up, move between tables, cover the walls with sticky notes and split into groups, often for a whole day. So we look at floor space, natural light and a second area for breakouts before we look at the number of chairs.
How to choose a workshop venue in London
Workshop venues by group size
Pick the band that fits your group, then check each venue's seats at tables: that is the number for a workshop where everyone works at a table.
| Group size | Venues | Half day from | Most Popular Venues |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 10 people | 4 | £500 | Wilmington Square Studio, The Lightbox Loft |
| 11 to 20 people | 30 | £480 | Shoreditch loft with rooftop, Converted Victorian Schoolhouse in Peckham |
| 21 to 40 people | 13 | £480 | The Artist's Loft, Canalside Studios |
| More than 40 people | 17 | £700 | The Hammersmith Vault, The Vault at Grosvenor Place |
Small workshops for up to 20 people
- Wilmington Square Studio, Clerkenwell: a Georgian first-floor flat on a garden square, with tall sash windows, a whiteboard and a projector. 10 seats at tables, from £700 a half day.
- Shoreditch loft with rooftop: exposed brick, large windows, a whiteboard and a flip chart indoors, and a private roof terrace for the coffee break. Seats 15, from £640 a half day.
- Converted Victorian Schoolhouse in Peckham: a former school behind Rye Lane, with high ceilings, a modular layout, a whiteboard, a flip chart and a projector. 20 seated, £500 for a half day.
- Perseverance Works Loft in Shoreditch: two open floors in a brick loft, with a whiteboard, a flip chart and a projector, so a group can split between levels. Seats 15, from £760 a half day.
Workshops for 20 to 40 people

- The Vault at Grosvenor Place, by Hyde Park Corner: a chandeliered room for 80 in theatre style, 60 in cabaret or 30 around a boardroom table, with a breakout room next door and a lift. From £1,100 a half day.
- The Creative Angel Home, two minutes from Angel station: a townhouse-style venue with step-free access and 30 seats at tables. Seats 55, from £700 a half day.
- Old Street Versatile Exhibition Space: a bright open-plan space that seats 150, with 50 seats at tables, wheelchair access and a cargo lift. From £1,200 a half day.
Islands, classroom or theatre: choosing the layout
- Islands (cabaret): small groups around separate tables, the usual layout for a workshop. Plan on the venue's seats at tables, not its seated capacity.
- Classroom: rows of tables facing the front, for training where everyone takes notes or works on a laptop.
- Theatre: rows of chairs only, for a seminar or a talk followed by questions. This is the seated capacity shown on each venue page.
- Boardroom or U-shape: one long table, for a small group that discusses more than it builds.
Many groups change layout during the day: a talk in theatre style in the morning, then islands after lunch. Tell us the plan and we check that the venue has the furniture and the room to switch.
Training rooms and seminar rooms
For a training day of 10 to 20 people, choose a venue with a whiteboard or flip chart and a screen: Wilmington Square Studio, the Converted Victorian Schoolhouse in Peckham and Canalside Studios all list them. For a seminar, go by the seated capacity: 140 at The Regency House by Hyde Park, 120 at the Old Session House in Clerkenwell, which also has smaller rooms for breakouts, and 160 at The Victorian Event Space near Old Street station. For bigger audiences, see our conference venues in London.

Yes. The minimum booking is 4 hours, or 6 at a few venues. A morning workshop from 9am to 1pm, for example, starts at £480 at The Artist's Loft in Shoreditch. If the session runs on, the full-day rate is on every venue page.
Most of our venues are lofts, studios and penthouses with large windows. For daylight all day, choose the 1900s Brewery Cooperage Loft and its triple-height atrium, The Shoreditch Loft, the Old Session House with its tall crown-glass windows, or Canalside Studios by the Regent's Canal.
Every venue has presentation equipment: 52 list a large TV screen and 24 a projector with a screen. 28 list a whiteboard and 25 a flip chart, among them The Artist's Loft, Canalside Studios and The Hammersmith Vault. If your venue has neither, we can bring a flip chart for the day.
Yes. We arrange catering through our partner caterers, from coffee and pastries on arrival to a sandwich lunch or a hot buffet, and 40 venues have a kettle or coffee machine for breaks. To set a budget, read how much a corporate caterer costs per person in London.
The Greenhouse Collective, The Creative Angel Home and The Vault at Grosvenor Place are among the 14 venues listed as wheelchair accessible; 14 more have a lift serving every floor. If someone in your group uses a wheelchair or can't manage stairs, say so in your enquiry: we confirm entrances, toilets and lifts with the venue before you pay.
As early as you can once the date is fixed: venues for large groups, specific layouts and busy months such as the run-up to Christmas go first. Our guide to how far in advance to book a meeting room explains the timing in more detail.
No. Our venues are event spaces for business workshops, training and seminars, booked by the half day or the day, not long-term workshop units for makers or light industry.
